Don’t you love those days when everything just flows. You wake up excited for the day, jump out of bed and into the shower and your mind is just going crazy with idea after idea. Your biggest problem is choosing which one to execute and how you are going to make it happen. The trick is how can we create more days like this so when we are on we are on.

Throughout the years I have struggled with pushing myself to the limit of complete exhaustion then it’s the usual daily grind of the coffee to pick you up and the wine to chill you out after a massive day. Sound familiar?

My life these days is certainly busy and as a single Mum of 3 under six and a few businesses in the pipeline there is never a dull moment. These life hacks have become non negotiable for not only me but to be the absolute best version of myself for all those around me.

  1. MEDITATION — Take a few moments to set a direction for your day with an early morning  meditation. I usually wake up at 5.30, wash my face with cold water and jump back in bed sitting up for 20 mins to meditate before the kids jump on me. If you struggle doing it without guidance download the app Insight Timer. They have lots of guided morning meditations from as little as 5 minutes. If you start making it a daily routine it will become easier everyday. Meditation can be a life altering experience if you put in the time and effort on a regular basis and here’s why.
    • It allows your day to start with inner peace, this will help you navigate through challenges much easier throughout the day.

    • It allows you to start your day in “switch on mode”

    • It reduces your need for coffee by activating your parasympathetic nervous system which triggers a state of deep relaxation. Even though you may be tired, just 20 minutes will boost your energy to get you through the day.

    • It clears your mind by filtering out internal and external “noise” and negative self-talk that sabotages our clarity.

    • It limits stress and anxiety from everyday life

    • It increases our intuitive skills. Morning is the right time for this as it is the time of peace and harmony. When we are in harmony we are more intuitive and know what is right and wrong. And this is how we make better choices.

  2. EXERCISE — We have heard it time and time again and that’s because it works. The one thing in common all successful entrepreneurs have is exercise. I have it scheduled into my phone as a reminder with a heading, not negotiable. After my exercise when my mind is feeling positive and switched on I tackle my top priority project and daily strategy. And here’s why we feel great when we move.
    1. It releases feel good endorphins

    2. It reduces stress

    3. It helps maintain a positive work life balance

    4. It improves your creative thinking skills

    5. It helps you sleep better

    6. It gives you more stamina to handle hectic days and stressful meetings

    7. It helps you sleep better

  3. WORK ON YOUR TOP PRIORITY PROJECT

The quiet hours of the morning can be the ideal time to focus on an important work project without being interrupted. What’s more important is spending time on it at the beginning of the day ensures that it gets the attention before others — kids, bosses, employees, colleagues use it up. Put it in the diary and make it your priority so you don’t get bogged down with the little tasks.

  4. PLAN AND STRATEGISE WHILE YOU ARE FRESH

Planning the day, week and month ahead is an important strategy tool for success. Use the mornings to do the big picture tasks that help prioritise and set the trajectory of the day.

A daily ritual makes the days more manageable and effective. I do this each morning and write the top 10 tasks that need to be completed throughout the day.

I then go the next step and prioritise the top three and complete them first, making sure they are the ones that make the biggest difference to the end goal I am working towards.

  5. NOURISH YOUR BODY

Every good idea starts on the inside and when we nourish our body we create our own superpower to create whatever we like.

Many people go straight for a coffee first thing in the morning which may give you a boost you are looking for soon followed by a crash and you are constantly playing catch up all day. From my own personal experience and that of providing thousands of people with healthy meals to increase their energy I always opt for a lemon water or celery juice first thing in the morning. It rehydrates me and I find I don’t get those slumps throughout the day.

Enjoy a healthy brekkie, lunch and dinner by being prepared. On a Sunday do a cook up so everything is ready for the week ahead. Even pre make celery juice and have it in jars in the fridge for the morning when you get up.
